Last week, Kia relaunched the EX variant of the Stonic in Pakistan. It’s the base variant in the Stonic’s lineup that was once discontinued in early to mid-2024. Now it’s again available for booking with the ex-factory price of  Rs. 4,767,000.

At this price, it competes with the Suzuki’s Swift GLX CVT variant, which is the top-spec variant in the Swift’s lineup. Both car’s are great value for money deals if you look on the paper. For your refference, here’s the 1-1 comparison of both cars:

Engine and Performance

The Swift GLX CVT and Stonic EX differ significantly in engine size and output. The Swift is powered by a smaller 1.2L engine, while the Stonic comes with a more powerful 1.4L engine, providing higher torque and horsepower.

The Stonic offers a more robust performance setup with a larger engine, more torque, and multi-link rear suspension, making it better suited for more demanding driving conditions.

The Kia Stonic has a longer wheelbase and greater length, which can contribute to a roomier interior. The Swift’s shorter length and smaller turning radius favor urban driving and parking ease.

Interior Features

Suzuki leans toward a more premium aesthetic by incorporating LED rear combination lamps, contributing to a more contemporary look compared to Kia’s traditional bulb design. Additionally, Suzuki’s larger and polished 16-inch alloy wheels enhance its stance and visual appeal compared to Kia’s smaller 15-inch alloys. However, Kia compensates with more functionality in its exterior mirrors, offering electric adjustment, heating, and folding features, whereas Suzuki offers electric folding with indicators but lacks heating.

Suzuki gains an advantage by offering practical assistance through rear parking sensors and a rear camera, significantly enhancing ease of maneuvering and parking. In contrast, Kia stands out by including a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), enhancing driver awareness and vehicle safety by continuously monitoring tire conditions.

Overall, we think Stonic and Swift, both are great cars and great value for money. Some features lack in Stonic while some lack in Swift. It’s a choice of taste now, some would prefer the brand value and resale of Swift and some would prefer to try something new in the market like Stonic.
