Motorway Police Begin 24/7 Flood Relief Operation in Central Region
The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) Central Region has launched a 24/7 relief operation for flood victims. According to spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, officers are on duty around the clock to guide and assist affected citizens.
Relief camps and support activities have been established in the Central Zone, MC-1 Zone, Lahore, and MC-2 Zone, Multan (M-5 Motorway).
Senior Command Monitoring the Operation
Zonal Commanders, including DIG Dar Ali Khattak, DIG Syed Farid Ali, and DIG Imran Shahid, are personally supervising relief activities to ensure that every effort is made to reach the victims on time and provide the necessary assistance.
Public Safety Advisory
The Motorway Police have appealed to citizens to:
- Avoid walking on motorways during flooding.
- Adopt precautionary measures while traveling.
- Refrain from unnecessary journeys in affected areas.
Emergency Helpline Active
For information, guidance, and emergency assistance, the Motorway Police Helpline 130 is available round-the-clock, providing a reliable source of support for those in need.
Significant Flood Warning for Eastern Rivers and Urban Areas
Alongside motorway relief efforts, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a significant flood warning for the Eastern Rivers and associated nullahs.
From September 1 to 3, 2025, widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall with torrential downpours is expected over the catchments of the Sutlej, Ravi, Beas, and Chenab Rivers.
The forecast warns of very high to extremely high flows in these rivers and highlights the risk of urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Gujrat divisions.
Travelers are advised to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas, and monitor official advisories for the latest updates.
