Murree Traffic Plan Revealed For 2024 Snowfall
As the snowy winter season approaches, the picturesque hill resort of Murree is gearing up to handle the influx of tourists, especially during the upcoming New Year’s night celebration. With the increasing number of visitors, the local authorities have put in place a comprehensive plan to ensure both security and efficient traffic management.
To cater to the needs of tourists, the Murree administration has established facilitation centers at 13 strategic locations. These include popular spots such as Satara Meel, Lower Topa, Kashmir Point, and Bhurban. The goal is to provide essential services and assistance to visitors seamlessly.
Traffic Control and Safety Measures
Recognizing the persistent challenge of traffic jams, the Murree Contingency Plan involves the deployment of an additional 140 traffic police personnel. This move aims to regulate traffic flow effectively and mitigate congestion issues that often plague the city during peak tourist seasons.
A consultant has been enlisted for the Murree parking plaza project, signaling a commitment to addressing the city’s parking challenges. Furthermore, the Murree Traffic Police has secured an FM 88.6 frequency and is on the verge of launching a website. These communication channels will serve as valuable tools for providing guidance and information to tourists.
In preparation for the snowfall season, the Traffic Police has devised a comprehensive plan that includes the prohibition of heavy vehicles entering the city. This strategic move aims to prevent potential traffic bottlenecks caused by adverse weather conditions.
Emergency Helpline and Control Room
To ensure continuous support and guidance for tourists, an emergency helpline (051-9269200) has also been introduced. Operating round the clock, the helpline serves as a control room from where all tourist facilities are monitored, addressing complaints and queries promptly.
Several designated points have been allocated for parking, and key roads, including Kashmir Point, Mall Road, and Guldana Road, have been designated for two-way traffic. These measures collectively contribute to a more organized and visitor-friendly environment during the winter season in Murree.
