Toyota’s Next-Gen Hilux Nears Launch — But Pakistan Might Miss Out
On September 30, Australian outlet CarExpert published fresh details on the upcoming new-generation Toyota HiLux (named as Revo in Pakistan). Their report includes patent drawings and references to regulatory filings that reveal a major overhaul, both inside and out, while indicating that some existing body structures may be retained.
Moreover, the publication has been steadily reporting on leaked patent imagery and recent spy shots throughout August and September, building a clear picture that a reveal is close.
A big redesign, globally
According to CarExpert’s coverage, there will be two engine options in the new HiLux: 1GD-FTV (HI), the high-powered version found in the HiLux GR Sport, and the 1GD-FTV (MHV) with a 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain.
Although the ladder-frame chassis, doors, and roof panels will be carried over from the outgoing model, now a decade old, the front and rear ends will feature a completely new look.
They also mentioned that the HiLux will receive a redesigned cabin inspired by Toyota’s latest off-road models, along with new front and rear styling.
Here are the leaked patent drawings of the HiLux’s exterior and interior, as published by CarExpert:
Is Toyota Indus Bringing the New HiLux to Pakistan?
We contacted Toyota Indus to ask about their local plans. An official, who didn’t want to be named, said there are no plans for now to bring the new-generation Hilux to Pakistan as the Revo.
This off-the-record guidance suggests Pakistan may not transition to the next-gen model at launch, even if other markets do. We have not seen any public announcement from Indus Motor regarding the adoption of the next-gen HiLux, and current local listings continue to feature the existing Revo lineup.
The new Toyota Hilux is shaping up to be a major upgrade, with fresh styling and a step-up interior. However, for now, it seems Pakistan will miss out on this new generation.
