Competition Commission of Pakistan initiates an inquiry into Indus Motors’ business practices
After receiving complaints of ‘excessively vague nature of purchase contracts’ on Indus Motors’, the Competition Commission of Pakistan has launched an inquiry. Talking with Express Tribune, an anonymous source stated that Indus Motor was abusing its dominant position in the market and was treating its clients ‘unfairly’ and the price at which the booking orders are placed is changed randomly without any notification or reason and the buyers are forced to pay high prices. 26 out of every 100 new cars on the road are imports
According to the data compiled by Paktribune, 26 out of every 100 new cars on the roads are imports, signifying the ground they have taken over by now. Although, sales of locally assembled cars have also increased by 23% (157,325 units compared to last year’s 127,944 units) but car imports have seen an overwhelming increase, 55,000 cars have been imported this year compared to only 21,000 car imported last year, an increase of 162% has been noted.
