“Proton X70 Is One Step Ahead Of MG HS, Sportage, and Tucson” – Owner’s Review
Welcome to another episode of PakWheels Owner’s Review series. Today, we have with us the owner of the premium SUV Proton X70. The owner has fallen in love with his car; chances are you will too. Here’s the full review.
Purchase and Price
Back in December, when it was raining SUVs in Pakistan, the owner had a choice between the latest MG HS, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Proton X70, and DFSK Glory 580. The owner had a soft spot for the Proton X70 because the Malaysian Prime Minister had gifted this car to our Prime Minister Khan. After a bit of research, he loved everything about it. When the owner learned that Proton is selling imported CBU units of X70 in Pakistan, he was sold on the idea of buying this car.
The owner booked a brand-new Proton X70 on the 18th of December for Rs. 53 lacs 90 thousand and received his car on the 12th of May, one day before Eid. Guess the owner truly had a meethi Eid this year.
Engine & Fuel Average
The owner is a fan of his Proton X70’s 1500cc turbocharged engine, and the reason for that is it’s manufactured by Volvo, one of the best in the business. Fuel quality is also not an issue for this engine, as the owner has been using the regular fuel in his car, and it’s working perfectly fine.
The car gives its owner the fuel average of 7 to 8 kilometers per liter in the city and 10 to 11 kilometers on a long route. The owner hopes that the fuel economy will get better with time.
Key Features
According to the owner, Proton went one step ahead to set the X70 SUV apart from the competition. For example, the seats are made of napa leather, the best kind of leather in the most premium cars. There are six USB ports in the car; one of them is behind the rear-view mirror that the owner has used to install a front camera in his car.
Features like blind-spot monitoring, rain sensor, nine Kenwood speakers, six airbags, drive assist, adaptive cruise control, electronic shift gear, foot sensor, ‘Hi Proton’ voice command, and Ion dual-zone climate control make it the top SUV in Pakistan.
Missing Features
The owner loves his car for the most part, but he is also aware of the things it lags. For example, the infotainment system does not have navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, and there are no paddle shifters in the car.
Parts Availability
Proton X70 parts are not available in the local market, but you can order them online.
Final Statement on Proton X70
In the words of the owner — “No brand is bad. At the end of the day, it all comes down to your personal preference. I, personally, prefer Proton X70 over the other SUVs in Pakistan because Proton has really gone one step ahead in this game.”
