Today we’re back with the owner’s review of BabaOP’s infamous Toyota Mark X. Initially being a rather underrated car, the Mark X is now a hotcake in the Pakistani market, mainly grabbing the attention of the youth. It debuted in 2004 as a successor of the Mark 2 and was offered in two engine options, a 2.5 liter and a 3.0 liter, known as the 300G.

This particular car is a 2006 model 250G, with a 4GR 2.5 liters V6 engine producing around 212 hp and 260 nm of torque. This engine is configured with a 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering power to the rear wheels. Today, the owner shares his experience with his car and the modifications he has made to it.

Purchase Decision

The owner was previously driving a Corolla, which got into an accident resulting in him eventually selling it. He had a budget of Rs. 3 million and was looking for something fun to drive and had a good amount of features. New cars were not a consideration as this budget would get him hatchbacks or entry-level sedans. He then looked at Mark X, and after driving one of his friends’ cars, he knew what he was buying. He bought the car for Rs. 28.5 lakhs.

Fuel Average

The one thing he was warned about was the low fuel average of Mark X in his purchase decision. Surprisingly, the owner gets a better average in the Mark X compared to his Corolla. ”Within the city, it easily does 10 to 11/km/l if not pushed, and on highways, it goes up to 14 to 15 km/l”, he stated.

Modifications

Despite the already elegant and sporty looks, the owner has done some aesthetic upgrades to the car. Some of these include a blue wrap on the exterior, aftermarket alloys with low profile tyres, straight pipe exhaust, coil overs, rear lava lights, front aftermarket bumper, carbon fiber trims in the interior, ambient lighting, etc. As per the owner, it is a complete car with many features like electric seats, steering controls, a good infotainment system; passenger volume controls, and an unmatchable drive.

Maintenance and Spare Parts

The owner gets the oil changed every 5000 kilometers, costing him roughly 15 to 16,000. As for spare parts, they are readily available across Pakistan, be it genuine or aftermarket. He once replaced the transmission, which he paid 55,000 for, which is very reasonable compared to newer cars. In his opinion, the Mark X is a very reliable machine if driven with care and maintained regularly.
