Today we’re back with the owner’s review of a 2023 BMW iX M60. After the launch of BMW’s electric lineup in Pakistan by Dewan motors, many people are opting for the iX, which is a born electric SUV. It is offered in 3 main variants, the iX40, iX50 and the M60 being the top-spec variant. It comes with a gross 111.5 kWh lithium ion battery with a usable capacity of 105.2 kWh. This battery pumps out a output of 619hp and 1100 Nm of torque from its dual motor setup on each axle.

Purchase Decision

The owner has always been a fan of BMWs and has always kept its 5 series, 7 series etc. his decision to shift towards a BMW EV was formed purely because of its high tech features and the impressive performance it provided. He had also kept an E Tron before but as per him, Its range was below satisfactory. On the contrary, this iX provided more than 500 kilometers of range along with performance figures of a sports car hence as a BMW fan, it was a no brainer for him.

Interior Features

When talking about an IX, it’s hard to not mention the interior. The elegant layout is very modern and futuristic with the main highlight being the curved screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster. As per the owner, these screens can be used to access every feature in this car like seat adjustments, climate control, audio etc. then comes the small touches of Swarovski crystal throughout in the interior giving the cabin a very luxurious feel. The glass roof on the top auto tints with a click of a button with the Castanea red interior colour looking very distinctive.

Range

As per the owner, the range of the iX is remarkable if compared to other EVs like the E Tron. where the E Tron hardly gave a rage of 200 to 250 kilometers, this easily does 500 kilometers which eradicates range anxiety. The company claims it to give around 580 but its realistic average is lower. If you want to enjoy its 1100 nm of torque and drive aggressively, then the range deteriorates very quickly.

Charging

The iX is equipped with a 105.2 KWh usable battery which can be charged both on AC and DC chargers. As per the owner, a domestic charger charges it fully within 6 hours while a commercial fast charger takes 30 mins for 80 percent and 1 hour to charge it fully. The owner also added that it costs around 7,000 to charge it on commercial chargers which is not bad for 500 kilometers of range.

Maintenance

According to the owner, the myth of EVs being completely maintenance free is not true. The dealership has educated iX owners that the car will need two inspections every year with the brakes requiring service after every 40,000 kilometers. Moreover, parts like the AC filter need to be replaced. However, no such periodic maintenance is needed frequently but it is good to take precaution.
