Today we’re back with the owner’s review of Furqan Qureshi’s 2017 Audi A3. Furqan is a renowned actor from Karachi and today he shares his experience with his newly bought ride.. This particular car is a 3rd generation Audi A3 which is powered by a 1.2 liter in-line 4 cylinder engine producing around 109 hp and 175 nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission along with a front-wheel drive system.

Purchase Decision

The owner was previously driving a 10th gen Civic and wanted to specifically upgrade to a German car. He shortlisted a few cars including a Mercedes SLK, a W204 C class and an Audi A3. He opted for the A3 as it was the best deal he could get in his price range. Moreover, it was also a relatively newer model than the Mercs which fell in this price bracket.

Salient Features

As per the owner, the main reason for buying this car was its driving pleasure and features. Some of these features include a dual-zone climate control, bruno leather interior, LED headlamps with cornering lights, cruise control, a pop-up  infotainment screen, front electric seats with lumbar support, rear AC vents, parking sensors, 17 inch alloy rims and much more.

Fuel Average

The 1.2 liter engine being small in displacement provides a very decent fuel average as it is paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. As per the owner, he gets around 12 to 13 km/l within city on normal driving. However, this average drops to under 10 if he drives the car with a heavy foot.

Ground Clearance

The ground clearance of German cars especially on Karachi roads is a bit tricky but the owner has had no problem with this A3. According to him, he doesn’t travel often with multiple passengers hence the car has no problem in going over speed breakers and potholes. Moreover, he also added that he’s not very finicky about taking extra precaution on speed breakers and choosing certain routes.

Maintenance

According to the owner, periodic maintenance of this A3 is not as expensive as people assume it to be. Where a local car’s maintenance costs around 10,000 rupees on every 5,000 kilometers, this car’s maintenance costs around 20,000 rupees on every 10,000 kilometers bringing the cost per kilometer very close to CKD vehicles.
