“KIA Stonic Has Better Features Than Grande & Civic” – Owner’s Review
Have you heard of the new KIA car in town? The younger sister of KIA Sportage? Yes, we are talking about the KIA Stonic, the smallest crossover of the KIA lineup. The company has introduced this car in the price bracket of Pakistan’s C-segment sedans, Corolla and Civic.
Many sedan users are switching to this mini Sportage, and here’s one with us. The owner of KIA Stonic, who has used both Corolla and Civic, will tell us about his experience. Here’s the full review.
Purchase & Price
The owner loved the KIA Stonic at first sight. He saw the car at a KIA showroom during the early days of its launch and decided to buy one. So, he sold his Grande to buy the top-of-the-line Stonic variant, KIA Stonic EX+.
The car’s full price was Rs. 38 lacs and 80 thousand, but the owner had to pay 1 lac on money. So, he got his Stonic EX+ for Rs. 41 lacs.
Fuel Average
Stonic has an impressive fuel average of 12 to 13 kilometers per liter in the city.
Drive
The drive of Stonic is good, just not as great as Corolla or Civic. The car has a 1400cc naturally aspirated engine, which is a bit small for its size.
Seating Capacity
Stonic has ample head and legroom at the front, but the space is cramped for the rear passengers. Again, it’s because the car is so small in size.
Road Grip and Suspension
Stonic has good handling and road grip. There’s no body roll at high speeds. In terms of suspension, Stonic comes above Civic but below Corolla.
Ground Clearance
Stonic’s ground clearance is similar to Corolla’s and higher than Civic’s.
Best Features
KIA Stonic EX+ has six airbags, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera with guiding lines, ABS, cruise control with speed limiter. All these features make the car one step ahead of Corolla and Civic.
Missing Features
The owner misses the features of auto-retractable side view mirrors and panoramic sunroof in his car. He also feels like the car is a bit overpriced.
Final Words on KIA Stonic
In the words of the owner—” KIA Stonic is not really a crossover, but a tall and bulky hatchback. It has all the features you need in your car; some are even better than Corolla and Civic.”
I think owner is not aware about difference between sizes of Corolla Grande and Stonic, both belong to different categories and therefore cannot be compared. In fact, if going on a long trip, how would owner even lug-up his luggage and family of five or six in a Stonic? There is no trunk, so obviously, he would have to put it on a seat and thus reduce space available for sitting in a car.
