Oshan X7 FutureSense ⚡ MG HS – A Comparison

A new crossover SUV has entered the market with a bang. The Changan Oshan X7 has come to the scene in two versions — 5-seater Oshan X7 FutureSense and 7-seater Oshan X7 Comfort. 

Changan’s new car is here to compete with other crossovers. Oshan X7’s potential competitor is another Chinese crossover with similar intelligent features, the MG HS. Let’s put the two rivals head to head and see which one takes the lead. 

Dimensions

Oshan X7 is longer and taller than MG HS. Oshan X7 is 4730 mm in length, 1870 mm in width, and 1720 mm in height. MG HS is 4574 mm in length, 1876 mm in width, and 1685 mm in height. 

Engine & Transmission

Both cars have the same engine size but different technology and power figures. Oshan X7 has a 1.5-litre turbocharged TGDI Euro-6 engine that produces 185 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. MG HS has a 1,5-litre turbocharged Euro-5 engine that produces 160 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque.

Both crossovers have a 7-speed DCT gearbox and four drive modes. From what we have on the paper, Oshan X7 looks more powerful than MG HS.

Oshan X7 has a start/stop technology that automatically turns the engine off when the car is stationary. We can safely assume that Oshan X7 is also more fuel-efficient than MG HS.

Exterior

Looks-wise, both Chinese crossovers are beautiful cars. The exterior elements have different styling but similar technology. Both have LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, electrically adjustable, retractable, heated side-view mirrors, powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, and a smart key with a trunk opener button.

The only difference is Oshan X7 has 19-inch alloy wheels, and MG HS has 18-inch alloy wheels.

Interior

Inside the cabin, MG HS has more features than Oshan X7 FutureSense. Both cars have heated leather seats, but the seats in Oshan X7 FutureSense are also ventilated. Oshan X7 FutureSense has 6-way powered driver and front passenger seats, while MG HS has 6-way powered driver and 4-way powered front passenger seats.

MG HS has dual-zone climate control, whereas Oshan X7 FutureSense has automatic climate control. Both cars have rear AC vents. The steering wheel in Oshan X7 only has tilt adjustment, and the one in MG HS has both tilt and telescopic adjustments.

MG HS has a 12.3-inch TFT LCD meter cluster, whereas Oshan X7 FutureSense has a 7-inch LCD cluster. The infotainment touchscreen in MG HS is 10.1-inches, and the one in Oshan X7 FutureSense is 10.25-inches.

Safety

Oshan X7 FutureSense has an extensive safety suite than MG HS. Both cars have adaptive cruise control, Forward Collision Warning, Auto Emergency Braking, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), BA (Brake Assist), TC (Traction Control), ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Hill Hold and Descent Control, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), and rear parking sensors.

Oshan X7 FutureSense has safety add-ons such as Smart Proximity Entry, Smart Exit, front parking sensors, DVR (Digital Video Recorder), and On-Board Car Diagnostic System.

MG HS has Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist, and six airbags. Oshan X7 FutureSense has four airbags.

Price

There’s a massive price difference between these two cars. MG HS costs Rs. 8,900,000, whereas Oshan X7 FutureSense costs Rs. 5,950,000.
