Today we’re back with the owner’s review of a heavily modified Toyota Yaris, where the owner shares his experience with the car and its modification process. The Yaris was launched in 2021 in 6 variants, and this car is a GLI MT, the base variant. It comes with a 4-cylinder 1329cc engine producing around 98 hp and 123 nm of torque. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission, while a 7-speed CVT is also offered. It is a subcompact sedan and has been very successful in its segment so far, being the highest-selling sedan at one point.

Purchase Decision

The owner was in the market with a budget of 3.5 to 4 million rupees, and he was buying a car to potentially modify it. He shortlisted the Yaris and Honda City; however, he opted for the Yaris as City’s delivery time was prolonged, and he got a good deal on this used Yaris. Another motivation for specifically buying the Yaris was that there were not many modified cars on the road, which would make his Yaris stand out. He purchased the car for Rs. 2.9 million.

Modifications

This car has undergone several modifications to enhance its looks, while no upgrades have been made to the engine. These modifications include 17-inch alloy rims with low profile tyres, a bodykit, aftermarket projection headlamps, a rear wheel chamber, and the car has been dropped through lowering springs. Other minor modifications include blacked-out exterior trims, carbon fiber trims in the interior, seat covers, a sound system, and much more. The owner has also ordered an air suspension setup which he will soon install.

Fuel Average

As the car has been dropped, especially on lowering springs, it needs to be driven at low speeds and with the utmost care, providing an impressive fuel average. As per the owner, he easily gets around 12 to 13 km/l within the city, while this average goes up to 19 km/l on highways.

Missing Features

The owner likes the Yaris overall and feels it is value to money for the price he paid for it. However, he feels some features he misses, like a push start system and digital climate control, which the 1.5 variant offers. Other than that, he is satisfied with its features.
