Punjab Grants 74,000 Driving Licenses in a Single Day

The recent crackdown on unlicensed drivers in Punjab has seen a remarkable surge in compliance, with thousands of individuals flocking to licensing centers to adhere to the regulations.

As per the recent update, within a span of just 24 hours, the provincial traffic police reported the issuance of an impressive 74,000 driving licenses, signaling a significant impact of the ongoing enforcement efforts.

The bustling provincial capital took the lead, with a staggering 24,000 licenses issued, highlighting a substantial increase in adherence to licensing requirements.

CTO Feroze has been instrumental in overseeing the efficient processing of fines and licenses at a monitoring center established at the traffic headquarters, ensuring a streamlined and effective implementation of the crackdown.

As the crackdown continues, these developments underscore the importance of strict enforcement measures to promote road safety. A day earlier, National Highway and Motorways Police surge the fines again to make highways safe.

Massive Surge in Fines

Fine for using High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lights on roads has surged to Rs. 2000, Previously set at Rs. 300, reflected a staggering increase of Rs. 1700.

Motorcyclists engaging in dangerous activities, such as performing stunts, will now face a hefty fine of Rs. 5,000, a significant jump from the previous Rs. 300 penalty.

Similarly, the fine for driving without a helmet has been increased to Rs. 1,000, up from Rs. 200, underscoring the importance of protective gear for two-wheeler riders.

Passenger vehicles exceeding the prescribed passenger limit will incur a higher penalty of Rs. 5,000, compared to the previous Rs. 1500 fine.

The fines for over-speeding have also witnessed an uptick, with motorcycles facing a Rs. 1,500 penalty, cars at Rs. 2,500, passenger vehicles at Rs. 10,000, and Heavy Transport Vehicles (HTVs) at Rs. 5,000.

These increased fines send a strong message to all road users about the consequences of violating speed limits, emphasizing the commitment to reducing accidents and ensuring a safer road environment.
