In a bid to cater to the need of citizens, Chief Minister KPK Pervez Khattak has inaugurated Swat motorway intersection. The total length of the section is 50km. It is imperative to mention here that at initial phase only 14 km route between Colonel Sher Khan interchange and Dobian is opened for the general public as for the remaining 36 km, it couldn’t be opened as some of its portions is under construction. It will be opened to the public by the end of June this year.
The total length of the motorway is 81 km.
While talking to the media, CM KPK lauded the performance of all the departments and also said that this is the first mega project by a provincial government in KPK’s history.

DG FWO Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal was also present at the inauguration ceremony and said that 50,000 trees will be planted along the 81 km long motorway.
The motorway will remain under the supervision of FWO for the next 25 years, the authority will also be responsible for repair works.
Aside from the KPK government inaugurating the motorway, Punjab Government has also test run the Metro Train for the second time. The project is aimed at helping the people of Lahore. The construction of this mega project started back in 2015, and the 27-kilometer rail line was decided to be functional by the mid of 2017, however, got delayed in a legal spat due to trampling over cultural heritage sites. At initial phase, around 1,000 people can travel in one go, and the train will serve up to 250,000 people each day. But the Punjab government is committed to increasing the capacity of the passengers up to 500,000 a day by 2025.
