The year so far has been a blessing for the transportation system of the whole country. At first, in Karachi Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit was announced by the government then people’s bus service. And in Punjab, the CM recently unveiled Lahore orange line Metro Train Project. And now in KP, the provincial government has developed an institutional structure to build BRT—integrated bus rapid transit in the province in a bid to curb the problems of the transportation system. Moreover, most people living in KP hails from a middle-class family, so it will be easier for them to travel from one place to another with much ease. And also the transit corridor will create more jobs opportunities in the province.

It is worthy to mention here that only around 40 percent of the KP’s population has access to the transport, which is indeed alarming as transportation system of any country, area or place induce sum into the economy to thrive the place. In KP’s case transport system only account 11 percent of the total economy.
According to a local media outlet, the BRT will be implemented in two phases. The BRT route in Peshawar, the circular railway under CPEC, which will connect six major cities of the province. Moving onward, the ADB (Asian Developmental Bank) has approved a $335m loan for the corridor. It is pertinent to mention here that this is the first ever UTI (Urban Transport Investment) in the country.

The government will also build a bicycle path along with the corridor to encourage the locals to travel through bicycle—which will not only reduce traffic mobility on roads but will also make a significant impact on the health of people.
There are almost 31 stations under BRT project, and a total of 80 buses will run on the main route.
