Motorway Toll Tax to Increase Further

2 206

National Highway Authority (NHA) and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) continue to increase the prices of the toll tax for motorway consumers. It goes without saying that both parties are trying to shift the blame on each other. And the end result appears in the shape of increased toll tax.

It should be noted that this decision has been raised already by a lot of people on social media and other circles. According to The Express Tribune, the issue was also raised in Senate standing committee meeting in communication, in which Senator Kamil Ali Agha said that there had been a sharp increase in the toll tax during the past four months. And he said

Now the consumers have to pay PKR 580 as toll tax instead of PKR 210

It has also been reported that the NHA Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tara clarified that FWO had taken this decision without consulting NHA. He also added that the issue had been taken up by the Ministry of Communication higher ups, who have called a meeting on October 3rd 2016, to discuss and resolve this issue.

Furthermore, the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) spokesperson, denied all the allegations by pointing out that this increase was put into motion on the basis BOT (Build Operate Transfer) agreement between both, NHA and FWO, which transferred the M2 under the care of FWO for operation and maintenance for the next 20 years.
