Chinese cars that could do wonders in Pakistan

Pakistani auto market, which has a strong, or the dominating market share goes to the 800cc to 1800cc category. So we have tried to maintain a list of Chinese cars that can do really good in Pakistan if launched properly over here.

People of Pakistan if someday decide to go against the odds and buy any of the following cars, then they may create an atmosphere for change. Getting rid of the mafia that drives you, should be our responsibility, since we have the power to not buy resale for few months, and eventually, the following Chinese substitutes will have the same resale as the cars on our streets have today.

1. Geely Panda (1.0, 1.3 & 1.5l engines):
Price 36800rmb (4.58 lac PKR) to 62800rmb (7.81 lac PKR).

First Chinese car ever to achieve a 5-star C-NCAP crash test score, washing all your doubts about Chinese quality. It is also the safest minicar in China and is considered as the most attractive and most innovatively designed car.

2. Chery A1 (1.3l engine):
Price 45800rmb (5.70 lac PKR) to 56800rmb (7.07 lac PKR).

Chery’s most popular hatchback in overseas market. Back in 2007, Chery inked a collaboration agreement with Chrysler, and in around mid of 2008, Chery’s built A-1 was spotted testing in around Detroit by the name of Dodge Breeze.

3. Chery Storm2(Fulwin) (1.5l engine):
Price 51800rmb (6.44 lac PKR) to 61800rmb (7.69 lac PKR).

Designed to look like an Orca Whale, the Storm2 is one among those safest Chinese cars to have a 4-star C-NCAP crash test rating.

4. Changan Alsvin(V101) (1.5l engine):
Price 53900rmb (6.7 lac PKR) to 71900rmb (8.9 lac PKR).

Changan’s popular sedan which is selling successfully in various markets around the globe, recently launched in Egypt as well. Alsvin looks are inspired from Mazda, reason being; Changan is JV partner with Mazda & Ford.

5. Great Wall Florid (1.3 & 1.5l engines):
Price 55900rmb (6.95 lac PKR) to 78900rmb (9.82 lac PKR).

Originally appeared as a hilarious cross between Toyota Yaris & IST. The Florid has now turned into quite a different machine, Florid also serves as Police car in various Chinese cities. Great Wall plans to export the Florid in various emerging markets around the globe.

6. Chevrolet Sail (1.2 & 1.4l engines):
Price 56800rmb (7.07 lac PKR) to 75800rmb (9.43 lac PKR).

A Chevrolet designed in China available in small engine capacities. Sail sells around 7 and a half thousand units a month in China which is impressive for a new product in world’s largest car market. GM also plans to introduce the Sail in various emerging markets, particularly in Asia.

7. JAC Tojoy(Tongyue) (1.3 & 1.5l engines):
Price 49800rmb (6.19 lac PKR) to 63800 (7.94 lac PKR).

A budget sedan which is quite popular in China, winner of China New- vehicle APEAL Segment Award by J.D. Power. JAC Tojoy is a sedan by Chinese independent brand which gains the highest score in APEAL Index Ranking conducted by J.D.Power (Asia Pacific) Company to the nine sedan segment markets. JAC operates in Bangladesh as well.

8. FAW Besturn B50 (1.6l engine):
Price 96800rmb (12.29 lac PKR) to 125800rmb (15.65 lac PKR).

Based on the proven Mazda6 platform, this is one of the finest Chinese vehicles in production, with a C-NCAP 4 star crash test score it is also one of the safest Chinese cars available. And more importantly; its packed with interesting features which can be seen here.

9. Emgrand EC7 (1.5 & 1.8l engines):
Price 79800rmb (9.93 lac PKR) to 111800rmb (13.91 lac PKR).

The finest Geely ever to be produced. Emgrand is Geely’s luxury car brand just like Lexus by Toyota. The EC7 series have reached monthly sales of 6000 units, within a few months of its launch.

10. SAIC Roewe 350 (1.5l engine):
Price 89700rmb (11.16 lac PKR) to 124700rmb (15.52 lac PKR).

Designed in China, this car has already reached Europe. The concept of this car was penned by a 21-years old designer, who had just graduated from a design college.

Roewe 350 is the first car ever that has the Google Android operating system as well.

Roewe 350 was launched in March earlier this year, with an output of only 300 units. Three months later, the output unexpectedly reached more than 5,000 units and is constantly growing. SAIC Roewe scored 5 Stars in C-NCAP crash test
