Last time we talked about the performance of the Honda Civic Type R was when we showed you how Honda‘s latest hot hatch was faster than Audi’s 370bhp four wheel drive RS3 and BMW’s iconic M3, the Type R beat the M3 by 0.2 of a second and beat the RS3 by 0.5 of a second. Now we are going to see how the worlds fastest hatchback, the Type R, fairs against Honda’s fastest street bike, the CBR1000RR.

The Honda Civic Type R is equipped with a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine with 306bhp giving it a 0-60 time of 5.7 seconds. The CBR on the other hand comes with a 1.o liter naturally aspirated engine with 178bhp, but the Civic weighs nearly 1.4 tonnes giving it a power to weight ratio of 221b bhp per tonne, while the CBR weighs only 210 kilograms which gives it the insane power to weight ration of 848bhp per tonne. Though that is without considering the weight of the driver. That doesn’t seem as such a fair fight, so the independent journalists conducting this test gave the Type R a 10 second head start in order to even the playing field.

Trust us this is a good one, to find out who won watch the video linked down below.
