Today we’re back with the owner’s review of Pakistan’s first MK5 Toyota Supra. In this review, Alamgir Khan shares his initial experience of owning a 2021 Supra in Pakistan and briefs us about its interesting features.

After 17 years, Toyota rolled out the MK5 Supra in partnership with BMW in 2019. It comes with BMW’s infamous B58 motor, a turbocharged inline 6 engine producing 382 hp and 500 nm of torque. This engine is configured with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission along with a rear-wheel drive layout.

Purchase Decision

As per the owner, ever since the MK5 Supra launched, he wanted to bring it to Pakistan but was surprised that no one had yet imported it despite it being such an iconic model. He then decided to make the first step and import it from the UK. He bought the car for around 50,000 pounds and then got it tuned from Lichfield Motors for another 10,000 pounds. After this, he paid around 4 crore rupees of import duty, so his total landed cost was around PKR 7 crores.

Drive

According to the owner, this is one of the most comfortable sports cars he has kept. The power delivery is very quick, with no signs of wheelspin. The car is very soft on Karachi roads, unlike other performance cars, which tend to be very stiff.

He has also upgraded the car with a full exhaust system and an upgraded Lichfield intake, taking it close to 500 hp.
As it borrows most of the power components from BMW, the handling is very impressive, and gear changes are seamless, making the MK5 Supra a treat to drive.

Interior

Coming to the interior, there is a strong resemblance with a BMW due to many borrowed parts. Starting with the steering, knobs, switches, infotainment system, and mainly the gear shifter, which is directly borrowed from a BMW. This may trigger Toyota fans, but in reality, the crossover between these two companies makes for a beautifully designed cabin with a combination of sportiness and elegance.

Ground Clearance

To the owner’s surprise, despite its low stance and 19-inch alloys, the ground clearance is very impressive. It does not scrape on speed breakers if maneuvered gently, making it very practical for the owner who currently drives it daily. Being a Toyota, the suspension is softer, making it an ideal sports car for Karach roads. Suspension damping can also be adjusted if you want it stiff for better handling or soft for enhanced comfort.

Maintenance

The owner has yet to get its periodic maintenance done in Pakistan, but he thinks it will not be tricky. He will soon be traveling to Dubai, where he’ll get its oil and filters, and replacement can be done from any workshop. Sourcing of parts will be purely done from abroad as this is the only car in Pakistan.
