After Sazgar Engineering launched the first locally assembled SUV – dubbed Haval H6 HEV – in Pakistan, Regal automobiles also embarked on adding electric and hybrid cars to its lineup. The company’s social media pages flaunted a post teasing the impending plan.

It is pertinent to mention that the vehicle shown in the post is a fully electric subcompact crossover, “Seres S3” borrowing style and design from DFSK Glory 500. The direct competitor of this car in the market is MG ZS EV.

The car is equipped with the electric motor on the front axle and a battery pack of 52kWh with a range of 230 km to 405 km. The electric motor carries the capacity to produce 160 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.

The specification and features of Seres S3 include:

  • Dual airbags
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Forward collision warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Autonomous emergency braking
  • ABS brakes
  • Vehicle reverse assist
  • ADAS
  • Brake hold assist
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Floating 7-inch touchscreen

Locally Assembled Haval H6 Hybrid

After SUVs, now hybrid vehicles are becoming the next big thing in Pakistan. First, MG brought the plug-in hybrid variant of its SUV, MG HS. And now, Haval has imported the first unit of Haval H6 Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV).

Dimensions

The hybrid variant of Haval H6 is exactly the same size as the petrol variant. 4653 mm in length, 1886 mm in width, and 1724 mm in height. The car has 210 mm of ground clearance and 60 liters of fuel tank.

Performance

Haval H6 HEV comes with a 1.5L turbocharged engine that produces 147 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. The hybrid drivetrain delivers combined power of 245 bhp and combined torque of 530 Nm with DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission). The standout utility feature may be that the vehicle does not require any external charger or plug-in system for its hybrid functionality to work on full capacity.

DFSK and Haval hybrid version are to avoid.
Hybrid cars mass are higher than ICE cars because of the weight of the batteries.
Toyota with the Prius and Corolla cross offer both a 1.8L engine , where this DFSK and Haval are both offering a 1.5L engine.
Fuel consumption of hybrids cars are increasing on highway, this is why it is important to don’t have a downsized engine.
Toyota remains the best offer for hybrid cars in the market.
And the best in the world with Lexus.

So you are basing your argument on just the size of the engine. 🤯🤣

First, the DSFK is an EV, not Hybrid. However, as far as the Haval hybrid goes, please re-read the last para again. The Haval has a 1.5L Turbo engine with a combined HP of 245HP and 530Nm of torque.
The 1.8L Prius and Corolla cross can only achieve around 130HP combined and 140 Nm of combined torque. Check the figures yourself if you so wish on the IMC website. They are THAT bad! Even the 2L versions sold in other nations like the US are very low on power.
Fun Fact, the Toyota roomy, Toyota Tank, Toyota raize, Daihatsu Thor all have the 1L turbo engine from Toyota (non-hybrid). It produces around 97HP and 140NM of torque. So the 1.8L hybrid system in the Prius and Cross are producing torque figures that are matched by one of their own 1L turbo engine. I was just as surprised when I first saw this.

As per your own argument about weight and power, The DFSK is and EV and has much better power output. However the Hybrid Haval has insane levels of power when compared to the Prius or Cross. So yeah! the Haval is still the best and most cost effective choice.
