After a successful test run in Rawalpindi, Traffic Police Punjab have decided to extend Paperless Driving License System in other cities of the province. According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Police Punjab Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, the system will be introduced in other cities after its success in Rawalpindi.

Next Phase of Paperless Driving License System

The DIG stated that the next phase of this program will be launched in Faisalabad. “The police will provide all facilities to citizens for driving license under a single roof,” Sukhera stated. Under this project, the citizens, who wish to acquire driving license, will only have to bring their NADRA CNIC now. The individual will be added to the paperless driving license system through biometric.

Explaining further, Sukhera said that the citizens will have not have to follow the old procedure of filling up files, going to studios for passport size photos, or visiting the post office for driving license tickets.

Launch of First Phase in 2020

Back in June 2020, Punjab Traffic Police introduced this paperless driving license issuing system in Rawalpindi. The project was launched in collaboration of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).

Initially, the police launched this project with references to COVID-19 and its restrictions.  This new setup ensured complete social distancing. Through this digital system, the police department issued licenses without much hassle and rush at the offices.

If spread across the province, it would be a great initiative for the common people. It will make the process of getting new driving license very easy. A large number of people don’t get the driving licenses due to its long process and documents needed for it, hence, a good project by Punjab police.

Hopefully, the authorities will run it efficiently for the convenience of masses.
