Luxury automaker Bugatti has unveiled a mesmerizing masterpiece ahead of the Monterey Car Week, named the Bugatti Chiron “Golden Era.” This extraordinary creation is a testament to Bugatti’s illustrious history and marks the swan song of its iconic W-16 engine as the company prepares for an electrified future under the new parent company Rimac.

Canvas on Wheels

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport “Golden Era” isn’t just a car; it’s a work of art on wheels. Adorned with meticulously hand-drawn sketches of legendary Bugatti models, the vehicle’s sides serve as a tribute to the brand’s heritage and legacy. These intricate murals took over 400 hours to painstakingly produce, making this Chiron a canvas of Bugatti’s past.

A Passionate Vision for Bugatti Chiron

This remarkable creation emerged from Bugatti’s Sur Mesure division, which is responsible for catering to the customization desires of the ultra-wealthy clientele. The idea behind the “Golden Era” was presented by a passionate Bugatti collector keen on honoring the brand’s history and its iconic W-16 engine. The ambitious project took two years to complete and is described as one of Bugatti’s most challenging bespoke undertakings.

Combining Power and Elegance

Beneath its exquisite exterior, the “Golden Era” boasts the power of a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, housing a robust 1578-horsepower quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W-16 engine. This powerhouse is enveloped in the special long-tailed carbon-fiber bodywork derived from the 300-mph Super Sport 300+. This engineering marvel catapults the Super Sport from 0 to 60 mph in a jaw-dropping 2.2 seconds, truly embodying Bugatti’s legacy of speed.

The mesmerizing sketches on the “Golden Era” weave a narrative of Bugatti’s history. On one side, legendary vehicles like the Type 41 Royale and Type 57 SC Atlantic come to life, accompanied by artistic renderings of planes, a train, and the brand’s headquarters. The other side narrates Bugatti’s journey since its revival in 1987, showcasing modern hypercars like the EB110, Veyron, and Chiron, along with the captivating silhouette of the one-of-a-kind La Voiture Noire and the iconic W-16 engine.

Unique Craftsmanship

Creating this rolling masterpiece was no small feat. Using pens typically employed for sketching on paper, Bugatti’s artisans meticulously applied the drawings directly onto the car’s body. This meticulous process spanned over 400 hours and transformed a Chiron Super Sport into a mesmerizing canvas of automotive art.

A Museum-Quality Interior

The “Golden Era” extends its artistic narrative into the cabin. Legendary Bugattis, including the EB110, Veyron, and Chiron, grace the leather door panels on the driver’s side. The passenger’s side showcases pre-war classics like the Type 35, Type 57SC Atlantic, and Type 41 Royale. Stitching reading “Golden Era” embellishes the headrests, and a “One-of-One” badge proudly adorns the center console.

While the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport already commands a staggering price tag of nearly $4 million, the “Golden Era” takes exclusivity to another level. While the exact price remains undisclosed, it’s safe to assume that the proud owner invested a substantial amount more for this unique masterpiece. As it graces the stage of Monterey Car Week, the “Golden Era” not only embodies Bugatti’s legacy but also transcends the realms of hypercars, blurring the lines between art and automotive engineering.
