A Haval H6 crossover’s cruise control malfunctioned in China and kept the driver trapped inside while driving for more than 500 kilometers.

A Chinese driver claimed that his domestically built Haval H6 crossover refused to stop on the highway. The car’s brakes stopped working, and it kept going at a speed of around 100 km/h set by the driver. This happened outside the city of Zhuzhou, in Hunan province, and, according to the driver, the vehicle did not stop until it ran out of gas.

The news was covered by a Chinese website called AutoHome. According to the website, the driver remained trapped inside the car for several hundred kilometers. He then called the police, who escorted him to avoid any accidents on the highway. The driver, known only as Mr. Luo, told the website that he became scared for his life when he realized that the car had gone out of control.

Engineers from Haval were also contacted right away, but even they could not solve the issue, and the car only stopped after its fuel tank became empty. The reason for why the car kept driving on cruise control is still unknown. Haval is a huge success in China and the domestically manufactured vehicle is trusted by many. This kind of an issue might strain the car’s sales as it poses a threat to life.

Fortunately, it was only Mr. Lou the driver present in the car at that time and he remained safe and sound too. Will this issue affect international Haval owners as well? This is yet to be tested. For now, let’s hope the reason for this malfunction is identified and solved timely.
