The flagship show of PAAPAM is back after a long break, no thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, and everybody’s here for it. This time, the Pakistan Auto Show will be held show in Lahore from the 29th to 31st of July. Here’s more.
Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS 2022)
Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers, or PAAPAM, was formed in 1988 to represent Pakistan’s automobile industry and to provide technical and management support to its members. Every year, PAAPAM organizes the Pakistan Auto Show, or PAPS, a national-level event that showcases Pakistan’s automobile industry’s capabilities and potential to the world.
With a ‘Make in Pakistan’ agenda, PAAPAM’s mission is to further the local (producing major auto parts and accessories in the country) and export (developing Pakistan’s role in the global stage) opportunities.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the event kept being postponed for 2 years; but the 17th edition of PAS is finally happening, with confirmed dates of 29th to 31st July, at Expo Center, Lahore.
PAPS 2022 Launch Event
To announce this event, a launch ceremony was held on the 24th of Feb, at the Royal Palm Golf & Country Club, Lahore. Some of the more notable attendees and speakers at the event were Mr. Syed Nabeel Hashmi, two-time chairman, Mr. Abdur Razzaq Gauhar, incumbent chairman, Mr. Rehan Riaz, a key figure in the development of the PAAPAM symposium, et al.
Much of the speeches were centered around past achievements and acknowledging key PAAPAM figures. The conveyor of the ceremony, Mr. Rehan Riaz promised the upcoming event to be even more successful than the previous ones; largely due in part to the postponements and all the advancements that have been made hence. He expects 200 local and 100 foreign exhibitors, as opposed to last time’s 143 and 60, respectively. Furthermore, more than 100k footfall is expected; 20k more than the previous.
A rather entertaining speech was given by Capt. (Retd.) M. Akram, three-time chairman of PAAPAM. He drew clear lines between the old guard and the new blood, remarking on how things were handled way back when and how everything has gone digital. He urges for the PAS mission – which he likens to a battle – to continue and open up to a brighter, open-minded future.
The event concluded with Mr. Anas Haroon, event manager, taking the stage and giving an overview of the PAAPAM website + a few salient features. His demo included going through the entire website and the process in which an exhibitor may register themselves. Apparently exhibitors faced issues in the past, so a detailed tutorial was deemed appropriate.

In conclusion, if the numbers and success of the previous events are anything to go by, PAPS 2022 is all set on continuing with that tradition and adumbrate breaking records along the way.
