PAMA Report: Car Sales Marks a New Low
Car sales recorded a downturn in consecutive second months in the face of striking Prices, multiplying inflation, and production cuts. After observing a 58% decline in July, sales are not back on track – dropped 2% last month.
As per PAMA (Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association) report, automakers sold a total of 11,645 units in August against 11,853 units in July (MoM decline: 2%). Concerning year-on-year sales, sales charts exhibit a massive drop of 46%.
Company-Wise Sales Breakdown
Toyota Indus sold 3,876 units in August compared to 2,375 units in July – a sharp increase of 63% in month-on-months sales. Coming to year-over-year sales, the company sold 5,639 units in the corresponding period of last year – posting a 31% decline.
Whereas Honda Atlas car sales went down to 1,809 units compared to 2,537 units in July – month over month decline of 29%.
Unlike the others, Hyundai Nishat faces have a different story to present. The company witnessed a massive jump, selling 1,929 units in August compared to 201 units in July 2022. (MoM growth: 860%)
Pak Suzuki Motors Company (PSMC) sold 3,954 units last month against 6,679 units in July – reporting the lowest monthly sales in consecutive second months. (MoM decline: 41%)
It is pertinent to mention that all other car companies, Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton, are not PAMA members. Their sales numbers are not included in the report.
Car-Wise Sales Breakdown
Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company sold 2,293 units of Alto, 411 units of Suzuki Cultus, 365 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 532 units of Suzuki Swift, 227 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 126 units of Suzuki Ravi.
Toyota Indus sold 2,901 units of Corolla and Yaris and 975 units of Fortuner and Hilux.
Honda Atlas sold 1,436 units of Civic and City and 373 units of BR-V.
Hyundai Nishat sold 581 units of Elantra, 234 units of Sonata, 129 units of Porter, and 985 units of Tucson.
