Toyota in Pakistan needs no introduction, from their entry level sedan (XLi) all the way up to Land Cruisers, the company’s portfolio is impressive and so are their sales. Since the launch of Revo & Fortuner, we have been hearing the echoes of a new Corolla facelift. Details were scarce, which led to speculation but some earlier posts on PakWheels have highlighted spy shots of the upcoming Corolla units. Safe to say very few can claim to have seen this car in action, mainly because no deliveries have been made for the booking of new Corolla, which started in May 2017. Nonetheless, this article is all about highlighting some insights provided by the courtesy of PakWheels sources regarding the upcoming launch of new Toyota Corolla.

This time Toyota Indus is prioritizing safety features in all of the Corolla variants apart from the exterior and interior upgrades, some of them include:

  1. Dual SRS bags
  2. Front Seatbelts: 3-Point ELR with Pretensioner and Force Limiter
  3. GOA Body with Reinforcement
  4. ISOFIX Child Seat Anchors

For the auto consumers, nothing beats multiple upgrades on an already successful car. In this regard, it is pertinent to mention that Toyota Indus organized a safety campaign at Dolmen Mall Clifton (Karachi) from 23rd to 25th June 2017, to advertise their preparations for the upcoming Corolla Launch planned in August. The purpose of this campaign was to introduce and highlight THUMS – Total Human Model For Safety, an advanced crash dummy developed by Toyota that helps analyze, in detail, the impact to vital organs such as the heart, lungs, and liver during a simulated crash.

After witnessing the activation, where IMC Staff was focusing only on the mentioned safety specs, it was further confirmed that these safety specs will be a part of the launch.

It won’t be wrong to say that auto manufacturers increased focus on introducing safety features in vehicles are courtesy of Auto Development Policy 2016-21, which revised the standard of vehicle safety, thus creating a bottom line for the manufacturer’s to emphasize on the safety of passengers. Introducing and incorporating THUMS ( Total Human Model Safety) along with some key upgrades will make Corolla, the Best-in-Class vehicle in terms of safety and equivalent to the NCAP rating standards.

This initiative will not only enable  Indus Motor Company – Toyota to become a Safety Leader by possibly introducing the Best-in-Class safety features, but also accelerate the competition among auto manufacturers to outperform each other in terms of offering more for less.
