Through our sources, PakWheels confirms that Toyota Indus Motor Company is launching the Toyota Rush in Pakistan in a few months.

It is a 1500CC mini-SUV, that the company previously released as the Daihatsu Terios in 2010 but later discontinued it. And now the IMC will initially sell completely built units (CBU) into the country.

Toyota Rush was first introduced to the Japanese domestic market in 1997 after which it gained traction in several developing marketing in Asia, Africa, South America and Eastern Europe.

In other markets, the car is known as the Daihatsu Bego, Grand or the Perodua Nautica. The 2018 model of the 7-seater Toyota Rush offered in other markets features very Fortuner-esqe styling with a more compact footprint. At this point it is not clear what trim options will be available to consumers in Pakistan, but the offering will likely be targeted to a young urban audience much like the other mini-SUVs that have entered the market recently.

The Toyota Rush will position itself in the market as a direct competitor to the Honda Vezel/ HR-V and the Suzuki Vitara. The price tags for vehicles offered by local automakers in this category is between Rs. 3.5 million and Rs. 4.2 million, so we are assuming that the company will offer it around the same price tag.

Over the past few years, the country’s long-stagnant auto sector has seen the much-anticipated activity as car sales exhibited great growth year-on-year, while new automakers race to set up assembly lines to capture a slice of Pakistan’s massive demand for automobiles.

Note: The Toyota Rush/ Daihatsu Terios is not to be confused with the Daihatsu Terios Kid, a 660CC Japanese domestic market Micro-SUV that gained popularity in the country in the late 2000s.

Should be assembled here, would bring the price down and would find some toyota buyers although BRV for 22 lacs easily undercuts this

  2. Faheem Sohail says

i am sorry but toyota just makes ugly cars.

  3. Khurram says

Well, it is much better looking than that Vezel or a BRV with a dripping nose for the front. Also, neither look does matter to the 80% to 90% car buyers, nor does it necessarily reflect status, that is why the Toyota is the most loved and valued auto brand in the world.
It is also the only company in the world that makes reliable, moderately comfortable, cheaper to maintain and good quality cars for people belonging to low class as well as super rich (the elite) at the same time.

I think pak-wheels needs to think for pakwheelers rather the companies… rush is direct competitor of hrv/vitara? I think its dimensions are more like BRV… dear author i hope you know the power of pakwheels on our market… mentioning price braket and leaving it without mentioning what is going on in other countries and not hoping for it to be in BRV price range… you my frend need to be careful… companies actually gather information before launching a product especially from social media… anyway who cares

I hope they introduce RAV 4 aswel which will be a real competitor for Honda Vezel, Kia Sport age and Hyundai Tucson

The new RAV 4 2019 will steal the market from the 5 seater SUV Segment. It will be shining like anything with it’s aggressive looks.

I hope Toyota Pakistan is listening to me right now. It will sell like a hot cake and will be second only to Corolla.

Mark my words. RAV 4 2019 will be a success. THAT’S A GUARANTEE

  7. Zee says

I agree with Waqas. Just spitting out a price range on a forum like this sets an expectation in the market. Also, Rush looks more like a BRV competitor.

  9. Junaid says

Sorry to say, but these new mini SUVs are a tad ugly. Looks like a stretched version of a hatchback jacked up high in the air. Unstable while cornering.

  10. Danish Anwer says

Aj kal kay models are so ugly. 90s and 2000s were the best year for cars. Munasib price, good drive, and beautiful inside out.
