After the auto policy 2016-21, there has been a constant increase in the entry of foreign automakers in Pakistan. Automakers from Korea, France to China are eager to launch their vehicles in the local market. And now two new Chinese automakers, LIFAN and Beijing Automobile Works (BAW) are all set to receive approval to come to Pakistan.
We contacted an official of Engineering Development Board (EDB) to confirm the news. He said that indeed both the automakers have applied to come to the country. As per the official, LIFAN is being launched by Pak China Motors, and their file has been recommended for approval by Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP).
Furthermore, he added that Beijing Automobile Works (BAW) has applied for Greenfield Status and Cavalier Autos is their local partner. After receiving the approval from the authorities, the companies will be able to set up their assembly plant in the country.
The companies at the initial stage will launch Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV)s.

Aside from the above-mentioned automakers, the vehicle manufacturing companies which have already in the process of manufacturing their plants and will be launching vehicles in Pakistan are Hyundai-Nishat, Kia-lucky Motor, United Motor, Regal Automobile, Renault, Khalid Mushtaq Motors, Sazgar Engineering Works, Changan in collaboration with Master Motors.
Moreover, it is imperative to mention here that Ford might also come to Pakistan and Haier Group, as per the EDB’s official, is also planning to launch passenger vehicles. They have submitted an application which is being reviewed.
