Due to the escalating petroleum costs, the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) is considering a metro fare hike for metro bus and train services. With the aim of maintaining affordable transportation while sustaining operations, the authority is proposing a ticket price of Rs. 50 for both metro buses and Orange Line trains.

Chief Minister’s Personal Inspection
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi took a proactive approach by personally experiencing the metro services as a passenger. He observed that the air conditioning on the buses was malfunctioning, leading to discomfort for passengers amidst the sweltering heat. Responding promptly, CM Naqvi ordered the immediate repair of the air conditioning units.
Initiatives for Students
Understanding the significance of affordable transport for students, CM Naqvi proposed a noteworthy initiative. He announced free bus and train travel for both male and female students. The transport secretary was directed to prepare a comprehensive summary to realize this plan.

He learned about issues like non-functional washrooms, water scarcity, and malfunctioning token machines. Promptly acknowledging the need for action, he instructed the transport secretary to address the station’s inadequate facilities.
Future Improvements
CM Naqvi’s assessment continued from Anarkali station to Ali Town, assessing token machines and overall passenger experiences. Passenger feedback revealed concerns about non-functional token machines and washrooms. To enhance the passenger experience, the CM recommended strategies such as online and credit card-based metro card recharging, restoration of token machines, and upgraded facilities for women.
