After much speculation, facelift teasers, and speculation, Toyota has finally launched new Wigo, a mini hatchback in the Philippines. The vehicle is among most loved cars in the country due to its compact size, shape, and reliability of Toyota. The new model is chicer, edgier, and livelier as compared to the last model. However, the new Wigo has several similarities in exterior looks with Daihatsu Mira.

The Japanese automaker has launched this car in four different trim levels. First one named base-level Wigo E comes with 5-speed manual transmission is worth PKR 1.85 million. The second one is Wigo G with cost of PKR 2 million and comes with the 5-manual transmission. While, Wigo G with 4-Speed Automatic Transmission can be bought in PKR 2.15 million. Fourth and final named Wigo TRD with 4-Speed Automatic Transmission is worth PKR 2.28 million.

Engine and Performance:

All variants of new Wigo come with a 3-cylinder 12-valve 1.0-Liter DOHC VVT-i petrol engine that generates 66 horsepower at 600 RPM and 89 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The mentioned engine can be mated with either 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission, depending on the variant one buys. The overall engine performance is quite similar to all-new Suzuki Cultus launched in Pakistan.

Exterior:

Like the rest of the world and Pakistan, the overflow of traffic and congested roads are major issues in the Philippines. Henceforth, this compact design is very popular in its domestic market. This small and reliable hatchchback is among the best options for a consumer to go from Point A to Point B with ease in the rush hours.

At the front, the car has a more expressive and distinct bumper featuring new sleek headlights and a more elegant grille. The front of the vehicle looks pleasurably imposing with a feel of dominance. Meanwhile, the trunk of the car looks rather busy for a small hatchhback. The dominant and eye-catching taillights extend on the trunk. While, the rear bumper of the TRD variant comes with a bunch of fake vents and two reflectors, which is undoubtedly a bold design choice by the company. However, it depends on the buyer, whether he likes it or not.

Furthermore, the customers can choose from six different colors with each variant. The company has launched this model in black, silver metallic, red, white, orange metallic, and grey metallic. The vehicle also comes in optional Race-Course Yellow color in TRD trim. The TRD model also comes with side skirts, a two-tone rear spoiler, different lighting units, and TRD decals and badges.

Interior:

Toyota has also tweaked and upgraded the interior of the Wigo. The new model comes with redesigned seats as high-end variants have power side mirrors and rear end camera. Meanwhile, base E-trim levels only offer manually adjustable side mirrors and a single DIN stereo system.  In higher variants, the customers would get a digital AC panel, keyless entry, touchscreen infotainment system, and push-start ignition. The TRD variant also has an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto infotainment system.

Furthermore, all variants of this model get ABS, 3-point seatbelts, driver-passenger seat airbags, and child lock protection. Talking with media at the time of launch, Toyota Motors Philippines (TMP) President Atsuhiro Okamoto said the New Wigo remains an iconic car that offers similar reliability and particularity of its previous models. “The car has been made more advance, safer, more fun, more convenient and more stylish with TRD variant,” Okamoto said.

Just like Pakistan, a significant portion of the Philippines population is young, which means this car has an excellent chances to strengthen its place in the country further.
