While the Pakistani auto market enjoys the top SUVs by Chinese, Korean, and British car brands, we have another SUV brand planning to step into this segment. Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL) of Pakistan has partnered with another Chinese automaker, the Great Wall Motors (GWM) of China. GWM owns an SUV brand called HAVAL, which SEWL will be introducing in the local market very soon! Here are the details.

Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL)

Sazgar is one of the best auto-rickshaw and 3-wheeler manufacturers in Pakistan. The company has been eyeing the car market with a greenfield status under the Automotive Development Policy (ADP 2016-21).

First, SEWL teamed up with a Chinese automaker BAIC to introduce three vehicles in Pakistan. The production of BAIC X25, BAIC D20, and BAIC BJ40 went through a rough patch because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the production is back on. Hopefully, these BAIC cars will soon hit the roads of Pakistan.

Now, SEWL has settled a partnership with another Chinese auto manufacturer, GWM. SEWL had sent a letter to the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) for the manufacture/assembly, sales, and after-sales services of passenger and commercial vehicles under the brand name GWM “HAVAL”.

Great Wall Motors (GWM) and HAVAL

HAVAL is GWM’s dedicated sub-brand for crossovers and SUVs. The brand is famous for producing professional SUVs after JEEP and LANDROVER. HAVAL SUVs are exported to more than 60 foreign countries. There are 5 million HAVAL owners around the world.

As per our sources from Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL), the company will launch two HAVAL SUVs. HAVAL H6 and HAVAL Jolion. Unlike other SUVs, Pakistan will get the latest generation HAVAL SUVs, the company claims.
