City 1.2L M/T ⚡ Yaris 1.3L GLi M/T

As Honda City is all set to be launched today, we are comparing it with Toyota Yaris. In this article, we will compare Honda City 1.2L Manual with the Toyota Yaris 1.3 GLi Manual variant, the base variants of both B-Segment sedans.

Engine and Transmission 

Honda City comes with a 1200cc SOHC i-VTEC engine, which produces 88hp and 110Nm torque. Toyota Yaris has 1300cc GLi engine with 97.8hp and 123Nm torque. So it means the engine of Yaris is bigger in size, horsepower and torque.

Coming to transmission, both have 5-Speed Manual Transmissions along with Drive by Wire Tech. This technology is more efficient as it has sensors and motors between accelerator and intake butterfly instead of wires. 

Exterior

The City comes with Dual Barrel Halogen headlights, while Yaris comes with 4-beam Halogen ones, while Rear lights in City are also Halogen, while Yaris has LED ones. The sedan by Honda has DRLs, but Toyota has not offered them in its car. Also, Fog Lamps are optional in City, while they are not installed in Yaris.

Both cars have 15-inch Steel Wheels with 15-inch Steel Spare tyre. In Honda City, the company has offered Keyless Entry with Trunk Opener, while Yaris has a simple key with Remote Trunk Opener option, giving former an edge. The other additional feature in City is Electric Retractable Door Mirrors, which is not offered in Yaris.

The Ground Clearance of the City is 171.8mm, and Yaris has 175mm, making Yaris more suitable for local roads. Both vehicles have Disc Brake at the front and Drum Brake at the rear.

Interior 

Both cars have Fabric Seats, Air Conditioner and Electronic Power Steering; however, City has Tilt and Telescopic Steering, while Yaris has only the Tilt option.

The sedan by Honda has additional features, including Multimedia Steering Buttons, Driver Seat Height Adjuster and Optional Rear Camera. Also, the vehicle by Honda has 7-inch Capacitive Touchscreen, while Yaris doesn’t come with a touchscreen.

Safety 

Both sedans have Dual Airbags, ECU Immobilizer, and ABS + EBD. Meanwhile, additional features of Yaris are Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TC), and Hill Start Assist Control making it a bit safer than City. The Security Alarm is an extra feature in City.

Price

Honda has priced the City 1.2L M/T variant at Rs. 2,599,000. The price of Yaris 1.3L GLi M/T variant is Rs. 2,409,000. There’s a price difference of 1 lac and 90 thousand rupees.
