Driving License Offices in Punjab to Remain Close from May 23-27

The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore, Amara Athar, has announced that all driving license offices across Punjab will be closed from May 23 to May 27 for a system upgrade. This significant upgrade aims to enhance the efficiency and functionality of the driving license system.

The Details

The shutdown will commence at 5 pm on May 23 and will last until 3 pm on May 27. During this period, services such as the issuance of learner permits, renewals, new licenses, and international licenses will be unavailable. Citizens are encouraged to plan their visits to the license offices after the upgrade is complete, starting from 3 pm on May 27.

Moreover, those who hold an e-license will not face any penalties during this closure period, as no challan tickets will be issued to them. The CTO assures that the upgraded system will bring improved service for all citizens in Punjab.

Women’s Driving School

Earlier, the incumbent Punjab government also come up with a plan to empower women with self-reliance by allowing them to learn motorcycle and car driving under a one roof.

For this purpose, Punjab Chief Minister has established four driving school in the capital city including:

  • Abshar Driving School – Jail Road
  • Women On Wheels School – Ferozepur Road
  • Liberty Service Center Driving School
  • Manawan Traffic Lines Driving School

The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore stated that classes are held from 8 am to 4 pm to accommodate women, with driving schools offering a women-to-women service where female instructors teach and assist women learners.

This initiative aims to promote women’s independence and mobility, enabling them to become self-sufficient and confident individuals.

Earlier this month, the provincial government brought good news for those who previously had to endure a 42-day wait after failing their road driving test. According to a tweet from the official government of Punjab and Lahore Traffic the candidates who fail the road driving test will now be permitted to retake the test after just 15 days. Previously, the waiting period for the road driving test was 42 days.
