After the hybrid model, Indus Motor Company (IMC) launched its crossover SUV, Corolla Cross, in the petrol model. The non-hybrid model comes in two variants, i.e. 1.8x and 1.8. The company introduced the vehicle today, which is a rather pleasant surprise. IMC launched the locally assembled hybrid Corolla Cross in Pakistan in December 2023; before that, the company was selling CBU units.

Specs & Features

Here are the salient specs and features of both variants of the new non-hybrid Corolla Cross:

Dimensions

Just like the hybrid model, this petrol one is also 4460mm long, 1825mm wide, and 1620mm high. The wheelbase is 2640mm, and the ground clearance is 161mm. This means that dimensions-wise, there are no changes in the new model.

Engine and Transmission

The new model has a 2ZR-FE 1798cc gasoline engine, which produces 138hp at 6400 RPMs and 172 Nm of torque at 4,000 RPMs, mated with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

Exterior

The car comes with 17-inch alloy rims with 215/60/R17 tyres. The headlights in the X variant, the top one, are Bi-Beam LED, and the base variant has Halogen ones, while both have DRLs and an Auto Light System with a Follow Me Home option. Similarly, the brake lamps in the top variant are LED and Halogen in the base. The top variant offers LED fog lamps, which are not available in the base one.

The side view mirrors in both are Electric + Auto + Side + Side Turn Signal with body-colored door handles. The front grille in the 1.8x is painted black, compared to the material black in the simple 1.8. Furthermore, the top variant comes with black roof rails, which are not offered in the other one.

Both come with a shark fin antenna, day and night inside rearview mirror, and back monitor.

Interior

The top variant has dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, compared to a single zone and no rear AC vents in the base variant. The Multi Info Display (MID) in both variants is 4.2 inches in color, along with push start, smart entry options, and EPS tilt + telescope steering. However, the steering material in the top variant is 3-spoke leather compared to 3-spoke urethane in the other one.

The steering in the top variant has switches of MID + audio + telephone + voice control + cruise control, while there is no cruise control switch in the base variant, meaning this option is missing in this variant. The company is offering moon roof only in the top variant.

The infotainment system in the 1.8x has a 9-inch capacitive display compared to a 7-inch capacitive display in the second variant. Both have Bluetooth, USB, MIC, WIFI Ready, Wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto Support, along with WIFI pairing and a rear camera display.

The seat material in the top variant is leather compared to the fabric in the base. The driver seats in both variants are powered with a manual passenger seat and manual driver and passenger recline. The windows in both are one touch—all up and down.

Safety Features

Both variants have Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) + Emergency Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) + Brake Assist (BA), Emergency Brake Signal, Traction Control, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill Start Assist, 7 airbags, immobilizer, ISOFIX Child Support Anchor and Occupant Seat Sensor.

Colors

The petrol model is available in Red Mica Metallic, Super White, Attitude Black, Celestite Grey, Dark Blue Mica Metallic, and Metal Stream Metallic.
