Paris Motor Show 2018 like every year, provided the global automotive manufacturers a wonderful opportunity to lift curtains off their groundbreaking thinking on future designs and seamlessly featured cars. Paris Motor show is one of the busiest and biggest staged international events of the automobile industry. This year, Paris Motor show provided us with an excitingly wide range of upcoming new models as well as a detailed preview of technological innovation in the shape of various concept cars. Being a part of the eco-friendly campaign, the world has joined hands to switch towards low emission vehicles by opting for electric vehicles.

Paris Motor Show officially began on October 4 with a number of exhibitors participating in the event to unveil their future plans and production. The event continued with a spectacular display of innovative vehicles in terms of technology and style till October 14. The 10-day running event was held in the capital of France at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles that attracted the attention of global potential buyers to a great extent. The opening hours of the Paris Motor Show were from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm local time in Paris. Among the exhibitors participating in the biggest global event; BMW, Maserati, Porsche, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Citroen, Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini, Renault, Toyota, Skoda, Audi, KIA, Peugeot, Hyundai, and Tesla were the most prominent automotive brands from around the world.

The conceptual cars with their engineering innovation were showcased at the Paris motor show 2018 that left the entire world in a stunning state. The cars displayed at the event genuinely shows where we are heading towards in the future of the automobile sector. To improve the environmental conditions, the global manufacturers have showcased their intent in switching to the electric technology that would eliminate the use of internal combustion engine in the future. The diversity of cars displayed at the show made it very tough to pick the best ones because the opinions vary in accordance with everyone’s interest.

All the participating global manufacturers came up with their stunning future masterpieces in this year’s Paris motor show. Let’s take a look at what each manufacturer had to offer on their respective showcases.

Audi:

Among the models that Audi showcased at the show, the compact SUV SQ2 made its mark with its four-wheel drive and 296 bhp that supports in reaching a speed of 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. Their showcase was accompanied by Audi R8 LMS GT3 race car along with the new Audi e-Tron and A1 model that remained the source of attention for the visitors.

BMW:

The biggest story at this year’s Paris motor show remained the all-new BMW 3 series. The brand has switched to lightweight CLAR platform under the bodywork that will enable the new generation’s existence more powerful. The next generation 3 series is all set to be the electric version. Two other models that were revealed in public for the very first time were BMW X5 SUV and the roadster Z4.

Citroen:

Citroen made its entry with the concept SUV of the plug-in hybrid version of the electric vehicle. Citroen C5 Aircross is a combination of electric version along with the internal combustion engine that is set to hit the markets in 2020 with an 80 kW/109 hp capacity electric motor. The theoretical electrical range of this vehicle is claimed to be 50 km at 135 km/h speed.

DS:

DS 3 Crossback made its public debut at the Paris motor show 2018 in the shape of the second SUV to its line-up that potentially compete the Audi Q2. With the technological innovation, the model is ready for an electrification version to be released. However, DS 7 Crossback E-Tense joined the showcase that is ready for the petrol and diesel version of the SUV to the line-up in 2019. DS has also been talking about the plug-in version of its DS 7 Crossback with 300bhp power that made its way to the showcase of DS this year.

Ferrari:

Ferrari has decided to introduce a new line-up with its limited-edition cars named as Monza SP1 and SP2. The line-up is named as ‘Icona’ since these hyper-exclusive designs are supposed to evoke the iconic models of Ferrari. Resembling the Monza 750 and 850 produced in 1950’s, SP1 and SP2 come with 789bhp super fast versions.

Honda:

The hybrid version of Honda CR-V featuring a twin motor intelligent multi-mode drive (i-MMD) was displayed at the Paris motor show 2018. Honda is delighted to introduce the 2.0-litre petrol engine combined with an electric motor hybrid version which produces 181 bhp power. The model seemed popular and captivated the attention of hundreds of visitors.

Hyundai:

Hyundai displayed two of their upcoming models at this year’s motor show. Inspired by the success of standard i30 N Hatch, Hyundai has worked on Fastback model this time around. Hyundai i30 Flashback N will have two states of a 248 bhp entry-level version and a 272 bhp performance version. Hyundai i30 N Option was the second among the two models displayed at the show.

Infiniti:

Accompanied by the technical specifications, Infiniti Project Black S made its second public appearance at the Paris motor show 2018. This hybrid coupe is twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 with a 563 bhp output combined power. The gracious and aggressive looks of this beast are something everyone at the show wanted to have a close look.

KIA:

Expected to make their way into the UK markets by 2019, two models were displayed by KIA at the Paris motor show 2018. KIA Ceed GT, featuring a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces an output power of 201 bhp. It was joined at the display by KIA Proceed that has already been officially revealed but made its first public appearance at this year’s show.

Lexus:

A revised version of the Lexus RC Coupe made its stunning appearance at the show with a new mesh grill and front bumper. With the same engine technology, RC Coupe appeared as a minor cosmetic changed version including the adjusted steering setup. On the other hand, Lexus LC Limited Version with its yellow highlights on the inside and outside also accompanied the showcase of Lexus.

Mercedes:

Mercedes has launched a saloon variant of the A-class of its series that made its first appearance at this year’s motor show. Mercedes GLE was also displayed with its next generation at the exhibition. A concept car of EQ Silver Arrow also made its spectacular entry to the show with 550 kW/750 hp output power and a range of 400km on a single battery charge. Mercedes B-class MPV and the all-electric Mercedes EQC SUV were also joining the showcase.

Peugeot:

An all-electric version giving homage to the 504 Coupe in the shape of Peugeot E-Legend appeared at the show with its thrilling looks. A concept car with a 335 kW/456 hp capacity is capable of covering 373 miles in one-time charge with its autonomous driving features. Peugeot 508 SW also made its first public appearance at the show with its stylish looks.

Porsche:

With the production of 1948 units of the 4.0-litre flat-six engine producing 500hp, Porsche 911 Speedster will be the key aspect of 70th-anniversary celebrations of Porsche. It was displayed at the Paris motor show 2018 with its majestic looks. Alongside this concept car, Porsche Macan was also revealed with a facelifted version. There are major changes under the bonnet with the exclusion of diesel engine from the line-up. A revised interior layout has the major contribution in the facelift model of the variant.

Renault:

On its 120 years of production, Renault revealed the popular crossover Kadjar face-lifted version at the Paris motor show 2018. It displayed with a number of tweaks inside and out that also included technical upgrades which remained the centre of attraction for the visitors. Initially launching for the Chinese market, the all-electric Renault K-ZE was also revealed at the show with a jam-packed crowd. The French carmaker revealed its EZ-Ultimo in the shape of a concept car that clearly shows the brand’s vision of autonomous cars in the future.

Smart:

Smart lifted the curtains off their ForEase concept in Paris motor show 2018. This open-topped concept is inspired by the 2001 CrossBlade. This electric little version of ForEase is equipped with an 80 bhp electric motor accompanied by the 17.6 kWh battery. It was one of those concept cars that got the centre stage of the public.

Toyota:

The all-new Toyota Yaris GR Sport powered by a 1.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid version was showcased at the motor show with a touch of brilliance added by Toyota. A combined power of 99 bhp output comes from the four-cylinder petrol engine and the electric motor. It has been launched in Europe for the first time by Toyota.

Although the main theme of the show was previewing the upcoming electric cars from various manufacturers around the world; the concept cars category captured the attention of the visitors to a great number. Let’s take a look at the brilliant concept cars showcased at the Paris motor show 2018.

Peugeot E-Legend:

The sensational looks of Peugeot E-Legend have already created an impact on the visitors. Inspired by the old-school 504 Coupe, this all-electric model is equipped with an electric motor of 335 kW/456 hp capacity making it achieve a speed of 62 mph in just less than 4 seconds. Its capability to cover about 373 miles in a single charge makes it even more defining unit among the others.

Porsche 911 Speedster:

Porsche made its entry in this year’s Paris motor show with an astounding 911 speedster concept. Porsche has plans to celebrate its 70th anniversary with the production of around 1948 units of this spectacular concept. It resembles the 911 GT3 in terms of its 4.0-litre flat-six engine that produces 500 hp using the six-speed manual transmission. This engineered concept of speedster will be up for production in the first half of 2019.

Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow:

Mercedes-Benz Vision EQ Silver Arrow made a terrific entry to this year’s show with its outstanding looks. Inspired by the historic 1937 W125 Silver Arrow, this concept car is a completely electric running piece of metal from Mercedes. The aggressive and defining looks of the car inspired many visitors throughout the 10-day event. Equipped with 550 kW/750 hp electric motor, the car achieves an acceleration of 0-60 mph in just 2 seconds. The claim of 400 km range in a single charge created a terrific impression of this concept car in this year’s show.

Skoda Vision RS:

Skoda Vision RS is a hybrid model of the hatchback produced by the company with a 1.5-litre petrol four-cylinder motor. The electric motor has a capacity of producing 75 kW/102 hp with the help of 13 kWh battery pack taking a total of 2.5 hours charging time. The hybrid system unites to produce a stunning output of 180 kW/245 hp which helps the car in reaching 100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds. This concept model of Skoda Vision RS can cover up to 70 km on battery power alone. The production of Vision RS might take another year to make its way into the automotive market.

Paris Motor Show 2018 captured the attention of many visitors due to the revealing of potential upcoming advanced technology models by different brands. It certainly gave a wonderful opportunity to all the automakers to lift the curtains and showcase their autonomous vehicles that will take the automobile sector to a whole new world of innovation.
