Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8X Gasoline – First Look Review

0 7,251

Toyota completely understands the Pakistani mindset that there are still drivers who are not ready to revoke their gasoline rides. To comply with that, the Japanese manufacturer has diversified its Corolla Cross line-up with an ICE variant. The crossover was launched in hybrid variant in the late December competing against the Haval H6 and KIA Sportage. However, this one is a recent addition to the affordable options in the Toyota line-up. Let’s take a dig at their basic differences.

Corolla Cross – Overview

Previously, the hybrid variant of Toyota Corolla Cross hit the auto market in December 2023 with three trim levels: Low, Mid, and High. Now the gasoline version boasts two variants: 1.8X and 1.8, keeping the 1.8X as the top-line option. The gasoline and hybrid variants share the same build quality and dimensions, with slight variances in specifications and price tags.

Engine and transmission

The Hybrid variants have a 1.8L 2ZR-FXE engine that produces a combined power of 167Hp, whereas the gasoline engine 2ZR-FE produces a power of 138Hp and a 172N-m torque. Both types of variants come paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission. As far as fuel average is concerned, hybrid variants give a combined mileage of 22 to 25 km/L, whereas the gasoline one gives a 14 to 15 km/L mileage.

Exterior

The Cross comes with the same bold grill, Bi-beam LEDs, Fog lights, and DRLs in the top-line variant, and you can get all of these in halogen bulb formats in the base variant. To remember, the base gasoline variant doesn’t come with a sunroof too. However, all the character lines, black cladding, chrome finish, shark fin antenna, back spoiler, high-mounted brake light, diffuser, and parking sensors are all same as the hybrid version.

In the gasoline variant, you won’t get a kick sensor boot but a simple automatic one. The wheel size is the same as the hybrid, i.e. 17-inch, along with all the Toyota Corolla badging at the rear profile.

Interior

The interior is almost the same as the hybrid in Tera Rosa red, with leather seats and a steering cover, which you won’t get in the base gasoline variant. Also, there was a 7-inch digital infotainment cluster panel in the hybrid, which turns into an analog speedometer and RPM gauge in the ICE one.

Thanks to the OEM, it has kept all the safety features the same as the hybrid variant with Hill Assist, Dual-Zone Climate Control, 7 Airbags, and Traction Control, bout the Blind Spot Monitoring System will be missed.

If you are trying a beginner crossover look and are tight on budget, then this Toyota Corolla Cross gasoline variant is a perfect choice, available in six different color options.
