As the Islamabad gears up for the upcoming 23rd March parade, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has put in place temporary but strict measures to ensure seamless traffic flow and public safety in the city.

One of the key strategies employed, as per the media reports, is the temporary ban on the entry of heavy vehicles into the federal capital on the specific dates.

The Schedule

According to the Islamabad Traffic Police spokesperson, heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering the capital city on March 17, 19, 21, and 23 from 12:00 PM 2:00 AM. This proactive measure aims to mitigate the traffic congestion and enhance safety during the buildup to the grand parade.

In addition to the ban on heavy vehicles, alternative routes have been designated to divert traffic, particularly from Lahore. Vehicles traveling from Lahore will now be directed to take Rawalpindi Sadar Road towards Peshawar GT Road and the Motorway, streamlining their journey and reducing congestion on main routes.

Alternate Routes

In addition to the ban on heavy vehicles, alternative routes have been designated to divert traffic, particularly from Lahore. Vehicles travelling from Lahore will now be directed to the Rawalpindi Sadar Road towards Peshawar GT Road and the Motorway, streamlining their journey and reducing obstruction on the main routes.

For traffic originating from Koral Chowk and Rawalpindi, alternative routes via Khanna Bridge, Lehtrar Road, and Park Road have been established to facilitate smoother access into Islamabad.

To cater to smaller vehicles, the Motorway Police has introduced an alternative route allowing traffic to turn from Kashmir Chowk towards Barakahu and Murree, providing additional options for commuters.

Furthermore, as part of the traffic management plan, Faizabad will remain closed to all types of vehicles. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement personnel and adhere to the provided guidelines to ensure the effectiveness of these traffic management measures.
