Confirmed! French Automaker Renault is coming to Pakistan

At last the news of Renault coming to Pakistan has been confirmed, we reported a month back that French automaker is eagerly wanting to come to country, and in this regard the company has inked MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with UAE’s Majid Al Futtaim—an Emirati company to set up a factory in Pakistan to produce vehicles.

Renault and Al Futtaim have officially announced the agreement, and according to the agreement, a production unit will be made in Pakistan. The French automaker will bring its latest products and technology while Al Futtaim will establish a new manufacturing and assembly plant and distribute the cars.

According to the details, the production plant will be made in Karachi in its industrial area in the first quarter of 2018 as per Renault standards, and the cars will go on sale in 2019. Senior Vice President, Chairman of the Africa Middle-East India Region of the Groupe Renault Fabrice Cambolive said: Groupe Renault is delighted to extend its international footprint by entering Pakistan, a fast-growing market with a 10% annual growth rate.

Moreover, the president of Al Futtaim Automotive Len Hunt said that Pakistan has a good middle-class population and the market has great potential. It is a strategic market for us. And we are very much excited to represent Renault.

The company is planning to launch its iconic Duster SUV to take the local market by storm, and in my opinion, Renault’s entry into Pakistan will surely bring diversity to the local market.

Apart from Renault, another big automaker Volkswagen is also planning to influx investment in Pakistan. The member of board’s Management of German Automaker Volkswagen Dr. Joseph Baumert met the premier at his office in this regard.

The omen is good for Pakistani local auto industry, and in the coming years, it will undoubtedly boom and flourish.
