And our sources are back and have brought a very important news for us. As per them, Pak Suzuki is going to discontinue one of their most famous cars in Pakistan. They told us that the company is discontinuing Suzuki Cultus. And if true, it is a big news for the Cultus owners and lovers.

“The car will be discontinued in coming months,” the sources added.

Apparent Reason?

The sources told us that the company wants to promote the recently-launched Suzuki Swift as their top offer. “Cultus was hanging somewhere between sales of Alto and Swift, and the company wanted the consumers to turn towards new Swift,” they added.

It has been further reported that along with Swift, the company is also seeking to boost the sales of Alto. As per PAMA report, 9,814 units of Alto were sold in March 2022, dropping to 5,009 in April and slightly jumping to 5,461 units in May 2022. This showed that the sales of this car dropped to almost half since March.

So, we think Pak Suzuki plans to focus on Alto and Swift to maintain its upper hand in these segments.

Suzuki Cultus

Pak Suzuki launched the new Cultus in Pakistan in 2017. The hatchback comes in three variants, i.e., VX, VXR and VXL. It has been dominating the 1000cc category since its launch. The salient features in the car include airbags, power windows, power steering, immobilizer, keyless entry, and alloy rimes (top 2 variants).

A few months ago, Cultus also faced a shortage of airbags which caused a delay in its production. And now this news.

I think that Pak Suzuki is making a mistake because Swift has reputation of high fuel consumption and people buying a hatchback with this factor in mind would not switch towards it. Already figures relating to Swift’s fuel consumption has started coming in and these are way lower than Cultus’s figures, I doubt that with such figures Cultus buyers would be going for Swift.

This will be the worst decision for Suzuki .Cultus is the most popular & good selling car in Pakistan & gaining major portion of revenue for company . after this decision the company could be in danger zone .

The launch of the new swift with the starting price 2.5 million PKR , swift is making more sales than cultus with starting price of around 2 million.
Suzuki got 4 hatchback in their lineup, Alto, Wagon R, Cultus and Swift. It is a lot of hatchback offer, they need to simplify the offer, ending the cultus who is closest to swift it’s mean to avoid canibalization and it is abvious.
It was better to stop wagon R who is the older , but wagon R is making more sales than Cultus.
And i don’t think they will renew the Cultus also named Celerio in other market, where the second generation was launch.
This is the end of Cultus in Pakistan, for the better.

They should offer cultus in the 800CC range and reduce its prices. Doing that will make lineup more proper as WagonR is 1000CC and is loved by Uber people. Alto is 660CC and is for new entrants. Making cultus 800cc and lowered price will make room for the swift to be offered at lower prices. Swift isnt selling due to price being similar to sedan level cars and people in Pakistan will always prefer a sedan over a hatchback.
But as you know the Management at PakSuzuki are a bunch of Monkeys. They have the typical mindset of a Kiryana dukan wala. They will make sure that the company goes for failure.
