Petrol Price in Pakistan to be Revised Weekly – Sources
Petrol price in Pakistan has been a critical issue for the people, especially since April 2022. In these three months, the government repeatedly increased prices of petroleum goods and took the petrol rate to Rs. 250 from Rs. 150. Although it has come down to Rs. 227, the petrol price in Pakistan is still quite high for all of us.
And related to it, all of you know that the previous government started fixing petrol prices after a fortnight, meaning 15 days. And before that, the decision used to be taken after a month. Now apparently, there is another update regarding this revision.
Price Revision After a Week?
As per sources and media reports, the government is mulling to revise the petrol prices after a week, yes, you heard that right, after EVERY seven days. The same sources stated that the government would adopt this policy under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) condition to get the bailout package.
“The step is being taken to pass on the global prices to consumers immediately,” the sources claimed. The government will take the final decision during the next cabinet meeting. Till then, we have to wait.
If the government adopts this policy, then there will be anticipation on weekly bases, and as usual, the petrol pumps would hold the sales till the price revise. On the other hand, if the prices come down internationally, people will get immediate relief which is good.
Petrol Price in Pakistan
After the latest reduction, petrol price in Pakistan is currently Rs. 227.19 compared to the old price of Rs. 230.24. Meanwhile, the new Diesel rate is Rs. 244.95 instead of Rs. 236.
And the new rate of Kerosene Oil is Rs. 230.26 against Rs. 211.43. Light Diesel Oil now costs Rs. 201.07 compared to the previous rate of Rs. 196.45.
What is your take on this possible policy by the current government? Will it be beneficial for the masses or not? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
Hold the sales? I have never heard a pump hold sale of petrol. Moreover, according to CSP, prices of petrol are not high, if we compare them with petrol prices in dollars in Hong Kong, and other nearby countries, petrol price in Pakistan is the lowest.
