When the global establishment seems inclined towards a green future, our government is also taking part with an aim to let the masses witness the fusion of comfort and technology under a single roof. After introducing electric cars and two-wheelers, it’s time to see electric buses on the roads.
As per the reports, the capital (Islamabad) would be the city to witness the stride towards sustainable mobility this time. Earlier last year, the Sindh government ran electric buses in Karachi.
The Details
A Chinese company has rolled out the first fleet of electric buses, signaling a significant leap towards a cleaner and greener future. The unveiling ceremony, attended by Pakistani authorities, highlighted the collaborative efforts aimed at modernizing public transportation in the capital city.
With the approval in place, the CDA announced the imminent deployment of 30 state-of-the-art electric buses, with plans for a total of 160 such buses, as part of their commitment to an eco-friendlier public transportation system.
Route Plan
The CDA revealed plans for the electric buses to traverse 13 public routes in the federal capital, seamlessly integrating with the existing Rawalpindi Islamabad Metro Bus routes.
In the initial phase, Islamabad residents can expect to witness electric buses elegantly navigating two key routes, namely from IJP Road to PIMS and from Taramri Chowk to PIMS. These routes are strategically chosen to enhance commuting convenience for residents, providing a cleaner and quieter alternative to traditional buses.
The integration of electric buses with a robust charging infrastructure sets the stage for a sustainable public transportation system that not only reduces carbon emissions but also embraces the future of clean and efficient mobility in Islamabad.
As the electric buses hit the streets, Islamabad is on the verge of a green revolution that will undoubtedly inspire other cities to follow suit in the pursuit of a sustainable tomorrow.
