As part of the recently announced Federal Budget 2025–26, the Government of Pakistan has increased the sales tax rate from previous 12.5% to the new 18% and introduced a new NEV (New Enhanced Value) Levy on automobile sales. In response to these fiscal changes, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has revised the retail prices of its entire vehicle lineup. The new prices came into effect starting July 1, 2025.

The core reason behind this adjustment is the government’s new taxation policy. The combination of increased sales tax and the imposition of the NEV Levy has raised the overall cost of automobile production and sales. Automakers, including Suzuki, have passed these additional costs onto consumers, resulting in noticeable price hikes across their popular models.

This price revision will undoubtedly affect buyers, especially those in the entry- and mid-level segments. The most affected are likely first-time buyers, small business owners, and families who rely on affordable transportation options like the Alto and Every.

Moreover, with inflation and economic pressures already burdening consumers, this move may also dampen vehicle demand in the short term—unless incentives or relief measures are introduced in future policy changes.
