Crackdown on E-Challan Defaulters Started in Entire Punjab

The Punjab Traffic Police has started a strict campaign across the whole province to catch people who haven’t paid their e-challans. Before, this crackdown was only happening in Lahore — now it’s being done in the whole Punjab.

Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer, Dr. Athar Waheed, said that starting this week, traffic police and highway officers everywhere in Punjab can stop vehicles with unpaid fines. They’re using a special mobile app that tells them right away if a vehicle has any pending challans, and they can collect the fine on the spot.

In the past, only special teams in Lahore could do this. But now, every traffic warden and highway officer in Punjab has the power to check and recover fines directly from drivers on the road.

This move is already showing results. In May, more than 37,000 people paid their fines, adding up to Rs. 22.6 million. In June, that number jumped to Rs. 86 million from 129,000 people. In just two months, the police have collected Rs. 108.6 million.

To avoid penalties, vehicle owners are strongly advised to settle any outstanding challans promptly. You can check your e-challan status by visiting https://echallan.psca.gop.pk/ and entering your vehicle’s number plate along with your CNIC or chassis number. Prompt compliance not only helps avoid fines but also supports safer roads for everyone.

Crackdown on Fake & Fancy Number Plates in Lahore

Last month, the Lahore City Traffic Police launched a stringent campaign against the use of fake, fancy, and non-standard vehicle number plates. Starting this Friday, violators will face FIRs (First Information Reports) as authorities aim to enhance road discipline and curb evasion of e-challans.

A three-day grace period, led by Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Athar Waheed, was given to raise public awareness and allow time for voluntary compliance. After the deadline passed, offenders—including both vehicle owners and illegal plate manufacturers—faced legal action, as tampering with vehicle identification was treated as a criminal offense.
