In a tragic incident in Lahore’s Shahdara Town, a teenage boy caused a fatal accident when he crashed a car into a motorcycle, killing one person and injuring several others. The driver was identified as Hasher, aged between 13 and 14 years old.

According to the police, the accident took place near Sangeet Cinema on Shahdara’s main road. Hasher was driving without a license when he first hit a moving motorcycle. Due to this collision, he lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into a motorcycle repair shop. As a result, several parked motorcycles and people standing nearby were hit.

Local residents and eyewitnesses quickly responded by holding onto the young driver until the police arrived. The entire incident was recorded by nearby CCTV cameras, clearly showing the seriousness of the accident. Here’s the compilation of related videos:

Emergency rescue teams arrived shortly after and transported the injured and the body of the deceased to a nearby hospital. The police have not yet revealed the identity of the person who died. Those injured in the crash are still receiving medical attention, and their conditions remain under observation.

IG Police Statement

In response to this incident, Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police has ordered immediate action against underage and unlicensed drivers across the province. The IG expressed strong concern, pointing out that underage drivers pose a significant risk to the safety of everyone on the roads. He instructed authorities to use Safe City camera systems to identify and take action against minors who illegally drive vehicles.

Additionally, the IG Police has emphasized that not only will underage drivers be penalized, but strict legal action will also be taken against their parents or guardians for allowing them to drive.

This incident, unfortunately, is not an isolated event. Lahore and other cities have previously experienced similar accidents where minors behind the wheel have caused fatalities. Despite repeated warnings and crackdowns by authorities, the issue of underage driving remains persistent and continues to pose serious threats to public safety.

Why Preventing Underage Driving is Important for Children and Society

Underage driving poses serious threats because minors lack the experience, maturity, and decision-making skills needed to operate a vehicle safely on road. This can lead to severe accidents, injuries, and loss of life with severe and lifelong consequences. In response to recent tragic accidents, the government has announced strict legal action, including filing FIRs against underage drivers, as well as against other traffic violations. This means that teenagers caught driving illegally will now face serious legal charges, damaging their records and jeopardizing their future prospects.

To protect your child’s future, keep them away from the steering wheel until they are legally allowed and properly trained and talk openly with your kids about real incidents involving minors driving cars. Sharing true stories about accidents—such as the recent tragic crash in Lahore—can help children understand the real consequences of their actions.
