Honda has officially entered Pakistan’s hybrid crossover market with its new HR-V e:HEV, a subcompact crossover SUV. This launch pits it against two rivals: the Haval Jolion HEV, a compact crossover SUV from China, and the Toyota Corolla Cross HEV, Toyota’s subcompact crossover SUV. Having recently compared the new HR-V to the Toyota Corolla Cross HEV, it’s now time to see how it competes against the Jolion. Despite the size difference, both the Jolion and the HR-V are remarkably similar on paper. They share a 1.5-liter hybrid powertrain and are priced very closely, with the larger Jolion costing just Rs. 296,000 more than the HR-V hybrid.

Here’s a 1-1 comparison:

Engine and Performance

The Honda HR-V is equipped with a 1.5L i-VTEC hybrid engine, producing a combined power of 131 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. In contrast, the Haval Jolion features a 1.5L turbo hybrid engine with significantly higher output: 190 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque. Both vehicles utilize CVT transmissions, but Jolion’s higher HP and torque give it an edge in the performance department.
