Haval H6 PHEV vs, MG HS PHEV | Two Chinese Hybrids Showdown
After a long wait, Haval has finally introduced the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of its popular H6 crossover. Until now, the H6 was only available in two powertrains, the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated turbo and the 1.5-liter hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) variant. Today, Haval has launched the all-new 1.5-liter turbo PHEV H6, with superb fuel economy figures and impressive all-electric range.
However, how does this PHEV stack up against the competition? That’s why we’re putting the newly launched Haval H6 PHEV head-to-head with what we consider its most competitive rival in this category, the MG HS PHEV, so you’ll know if H6 beats the competition or competition beats the H6.
Both vehicles sit in the same general C-segment crossover category, though the H6 edges toward the C+ segment in terms of size and presence. They share similar plug-in hybrid technology, hail from Chinese manufacturers, and are positioned to attract the same buyer demographic.
Here’s a point-by-point comparison to see how these two contenders stack up against each other on paper.

Engine and Performance
The Haval H6 PHEV offers higher combined horsepower, torque, and combined fuel economy. However, looking at the 0-100 Km/h time of H6 PHEV, it sounds too good to be true for an SUV that produces 360 HP. Haval mentioned in the brochure that these are ideal condition figures, so the real-life 0-100 will undoubtedly be higher than what the company is telling us.
