Islamabad, August 25 — The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced revised toll rates for the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2), which will come into effect from August 26, 2025, and remain applicable until August 25, 2026.
According to the official notification, the updated rates reflect a 10% annual increase under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) concession agreement signed on April 23, 2014, with Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
Under the new schedule, Cars, Jeeps, and Taxis (Class 1) will pay Rs. 1,330, calculated at Rs. 3.72 per kilometer. Wagons (Class 2) will be charged Rs. 2,240 (Rs. 6.24/km), while Buses (Class 3) will pay Rs. 3,130 (Rs. 8.73/km). These rates have been set to ensure fairness and affordability for all users.
For heavier vehicles, the new tolls are as follows:
- 2-Axle Trucks (Class 4): Rs. 4,020 (Rs. 11.25/km)
- 3-Axle Trucks (Class 5): Rs. 5,800 (Rs. 16.20/km)
- 6 Articulated Trucks (Class 6): Rs. 7,460 (Rs. 20.83/km)
The NHA clarified that the annual increase is part of the long-term motorway modernization and maintenance agreement, which spans 20 years and ensures consistent improvement of road infrastructure.
The revised tolls will be effective for all commuters traveling between Lahore and Islamabad starting today.
