ISLAMABAD – Fuel consumers in Pakistan may see an increase in petrol prices from September 16, as the oil industry has suggested a short-term increase in petroleum rates for the next 15 days.
Suggested Price Hike
According to industry sources, the proposed adjustment covers all major petroleum products. If approved, the following increases are expected:
- Petrol: Rs. 1.54 per liter
- High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Rs. 4.79 per liter
- Kerosene: Rs. 3.60 per liter
- Light Diesel: Rs. 3.68 per liter
These figures are based on the industry’s internal calculations. However, the working paper does not account for government taxes or currency exchange losses, which could affect the final rates.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will submit its recommendations to the government on September 15. Once the proposal is reviewed, the Prime Minister will give the final approval.
Following this step, the Finance Ministry will issue an official notification to implement the revised rates nationwide. The new prices will remain in effect for the designated 15-day cycle.
Current Petrol Prices
At present, fuel prices in Pakistan, set on September 1, 2025, are:
- Petrol (Super): Rs. 264.61 per liter
- Diesel: Rs. 269.99 per liter
Motorists are encouraged to check updated rates at Pakwheels petrol price section once the government issues its notification.
