On October 6, we reported that Chery confirmed plans to assemble the Tiggo 9 locally. In a PR shared with us, the company stated: “Chery Master plans to introduce four models from the Tiggo lineup, the Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9, for local assembly beginning in January 2026.”
Following that announcement, sources indicate that a Tiggo 9 PHEV has already arrived in Pakistan as an imported unit. This development suggests Chery Master may be preparing to launch this plug-in hybrid version of the Tiggo 9 in the local market soon.
For now, prices are unknown, but as per the Master Changan’s plan, this vehicle might be launching in Pakistan next year.
Coming to the vehicle itself, this mid-size crossover SUV uses a 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup with three electric motors, making about 416 HP and 580 Nm of torque, with 0-100 in 5.4 seconds, all mated to a 34.46 kWh battery pack.
The key figure here is its 146 km of electric-only range, placing it among the plug-in hybrids with the longest EV ranges currently available on the international market.
Charging performance is equally impressive: it supports DC fast charging up to 71kW, allowing a 30–80% recharge in around 18 minutes.
In terms of features, the list is extensive. Here are some of the key specs:

It also offers seven seats, with the second row electrically adjustable for sliding and reclining, plus a 1.3-metre panoramic sunroof. With the third row folded, luggage capacity expands to 819 litres, and dropping the second-row boosts that to a generous 2,021 liters.
With all this in mind, the Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV is likely to compete with the Kia Sorento HEV, as both are mid-size crossover SUVs featuring hybrid powertrains (Sorento is not a plug-in hybrid, though) and both offer seven-seat configurations. However, the final launch price of the Tiggo 9 PHEV will ultimately determine which rivals it truly goes up against.
