Imagine the future of Pakistan’s pickup market where, instead of diesel-powered trucks, you see PHEV trucks with high-tech features that can beat Germans. This is not a future anymore, but becoming a reality with the launch of BYD Shark 6, a plug-in hybrid electric pickup truck that has just been introduced in Pakistan, and it’s probably the most powerful pickup truck in the market as of now. But it’s not rolling onto empty roads.

Waiting in its path is Pakistan’s undisputed king of durability, the Toyota Revo, a legend trusted from the city streets to the wildest mountain passes. Let’s compare the BYD Shark 6 to the Toyota Revo on paper. We’ve selected the Toyota Hilux Revo GR-S variant for this comparison because it represents the top-spec model in the Revo lineup, offering maximum features, performance capabilities, and styling enhancements that best showcase Toyota’s flagship pickup.

Note: This comparison is entirely based on specifications and details provided in the official brochures. It does not include subjective opinions, driving experiences, or market value considerations.

Engine and Performance

The BYD Shark 6’s hybrid-electric setup offers instant, punchy acceleration, boasting a combined 650 Nm of torque and significantly higher horsepower (430 HP) compared to the Revo GR-S (201 HP, 500 Nm). However, the diesel-powered Revo offers steadier torque delivery, higher towing capacity, and greater reliability under demanding off-road or towing conditions.

Toyota wins in price, brand name, reliability, after sales, parts and mechanic understanding. There is not a single feature in BYD which will be a deal breaker for me over Toyota.
